Frequently Asked Questions

What is a marathon day?

On a marathon day we will set aside a whole day and we will book individual times throughout the day with each session carefully planned for you to have your own unique, uninterrupted session.

Where will my session take place?

Individual sessions are held at our studio just outside Market Harborough, or if you prefer they can take place in the comfort and privacy of your own home if it is suitable. For it to be suitable we will need sufficient space to work in and good natural light.

Alternatively we can arrange individual sessions at a variety of local hotels.

Our ever popular marathon days may be held in the studio or at local luxury hotel.

How long will my session last?

It is recommended that individual sessions are booked for a maximum of three hours, allowing for make-up and plenty of time for photography with unlimited changes of outfit. We will be able to advise you on the options at the time of your enquiry.

Individual sessions on a marathon day will also be booked for three hours, allowing for your make up and approximately two hours of photography.

Occasionally we will offer mini marathon sessions which allow one hour of photography, including changes of outfit, but without make up i.e. you should come made up.

Who will be present during the actual shoot?

Both Karen and Nigel will be at your actual shoot, Nigel photographing and Karen advising on posing and positioning.

If required, our make-up artist will be on hand to re-touch make-up as necessary.

How and when will I be able to see my images?

Shortly after your session, usually within 10 days, we will advise you that your images are ready for viewing. They can be viewed in two ways; an individual viewing at the studio where you can view your images on a large screen and receive advice on selecting your images for presentation, alternatively, your images can be posted to a password protected online gallery for you to view in the comfort and privacy of your own home. On line galleries will be made available for a maximum of 10 days for you to view and select your images.

How long will my finished images take to be ready?

Depending on the presentation options that you have selected, your album and or framed images will take up to four weeks to be completed and to be ready for collection.

Certain times of the year will be busier than others e.g. leading up to Christmas or Valentine’s Day. For sessions around those times we will be able to advise you of deadlines and delivery times.

How do I book a session?

Please contact Karen in the first instance to discuss the options available.

Karen can be contacted on 07535-595376 or by email on karenabuxton@hotmail.co.uk

When and how do I pay for my session?

To book your session for your agreed date and time we ask for a non refundable booking fee of £175/50% of your session fee. The balance is payable at the start of your session.

Payment can be made by cash, cheque (payable to Nigel Ord-Smith Photography), or debit card.

What happens if I need to cancel or reschedule my session?

Your booking fee is non refundable, but we recognise that sometimes the unexpected can happen.

Should you do need to reschedule a booked session due to unforeseen circumstances, we will carry your booking fee forward to a new session provided that it is booked for an agreed date no later than three months after the original booking providing that you contact us no later than 72 hours before your session was due to start.

We will offer to reschedule on one occasion, otherwise a new booking fee will become due.
